Here is the progress up to date :
July 2006 trying to meet with City Hall and Economic Development and getting information on resources.
I met with several contacts throughout the city, to get information on a non-profit organization.
We Incorporated the Capitol Theater Performing Arts Center and received our 501 C3 status on July 28th 2006. The Corporation was organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes related to the revitalization of downtown Fall River and in particular, the restoration and revitalization of the old Capitol Theater located on South Main Street in the Historic downtown district of Fall River MA.

Our first meetings were with Jim Rogers from the City of Fall River, Jane DiBiasio the Grant Writer for the City of Fall River, and Joann Bentley Architect in Fall River MA.

Jane helped me with several grants, Jim and Joann also gave their time to helping resurrect the Theater.

2007 Wrote grants
February 1, 2007  Johann Fund Grant for Historic Preservation
February 1, 2007 Cynthia Wood Mitchell Fund
February 1, 2007  the Preservation Fund
May 17, 2007  applied for the Tourism Cares Grant

We received a grant for $3,000.00 from the National Trust Preservation Fund which went to the Architect for a Feasibility Study on the Front Entrance of the Capitol.

We continued to meet people and write grants. Yankee Spirit provided support, and we also tried winning grants from Pepsi on refresheverything.com/capitol on a few occassions.
We went to several Theater's to learn about how they went about being restored. We reached out to The Zeiterion Theater in New Bedford MA, The PPAC of Providence, and The Stadium in Woonsocket RI.

We joined the:
National Trust for Historic Preservation
Main Street America
The Chamber of Commerce in Fall River MA

Last year we had the opportunity to have Maureen Estes and her friend Professor Robert Flanagan from Denver Colorado School of Architectural and Design and all of his students do a study on the Capitol Theater and the City of Fall River to see if it is feasible to restore the Building back to a Performing Arts Center.
All of his students completed a project on Downtown Fall River and the Theater, they created  architectural drawings on the Theater and there version of how it could be restored to today's standards.  Some of the Students included the Borden School into the revitalization of the historic downtown Fall River.  I am very grateful to have met all of them and I hope I can repay them by using one of their architectural drawings of the Theater and the Downtown Fall River.

I am looking to include the NB Borden School into the restoration of the Theater, to be used for educational classrooms, dressing rooms, costume design storage rooms and rehearsals.
The RE-Use Concept
The NB Borden School would be used as a performing arts center along with the Capitol Theater Performing Arts Center on Morgan St and South Main St.
Our mandate is to look at developing The Capitol Theater in terms of its potential role in helping to revitalize downtown Fall River together, especially with the new rail link to Boston and the redevelopment of the waterfront area.

Our mission is  to restore the interior and exterior of the NB Borden building along with the Capitol Theater building.
The Capitol Theater and NB Borden School would have a skyway across Morgan Street to incorporate them together and provide access for the performers, their costumes and for their dress rehearsals. We would also like to provide a kitchen and bathrooms. The first floor space would have offices or live/work suites with parking to bring in new Business's to the city of Fall River.
The third floor would be for educational classrooms, theatrical classrooms, along with design and historic preservation.
Regarding the high crime in the Southeast  it is worth it considering that greater economic and social activity will lead to greater security and more employment options in the community.
